HueCue Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 19, 2026
Overview
HueCue does not collect personal information. It does not use third-party analytics or tracking services, does not require account creation, and does not transmit data to any servers operated by the developer. All usage data is stored locally on your device.
Data Stored on Your Device
HueCue stores the following data locally on your Mac. None of this data is transmitted off your device.
Usage analytics (session count, first and last launch dates, counts of scenes created, applied, pushed, and imported, counts of group cues created and applied, export count, and bridge connection count) are stored in a local file on your Mac.
User content — including scene configurations (names, light states, transition times), group cue configurations, and bridge linking metadata (scene IDs and sync timestamps) — is also stored locally on your Mac.
Credentials (your Hue Bridge IP address, API username generated by the bridge, and bridge ID and name) are stored securely in the macOS Keychain.
Network Communications
HueCue communicates over your network in two ways, both involving only Philips Hue infrastructure:
Local Hue Bridge control. The app sends light state commands (on/off, brightness, color) to your Hue Bridge over your local network (same WiFi or LAN). This traffic never leaves your local network.
Bridge discovery. When searching for bridges, the app contacts Signify's official discovery service at discovery.meethue.com, sending only a device type string. This is the sole external network request the app makes.
Crash Diagnostics
HueCue uses Apple's built-in crash reporting, which can provide crash reports, hang diagnostics, and performance metrics. This data is shared with the developer only if you have enabled "Share with App Developers" in macOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. You can disable this at any time through those same settings. The developer does not operate any separate crash reporting service.
Third-Party Services
HueCue does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app uses only Apple system frameworks and the Philips Hue local API and discovery service.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or share your data with third parties. No data is sent to servers operated by the developer, and no data is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Storage and Retention
All app data is stored locally on your Mac and in the macOS Keychain. There is no cloud storage, iCloud sync, or remote backup. Local data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. Because nothing is transmitted to external servers, there is no server-side data to retain or expire.
Your Controls
You can delete all app data by removing the HueCue folder from your Mac's Application Support directory. You can delete stored credentials through macOS Keychain Access or by disconnecting your bridge within the app. You can disable crash diagnostic sharing in macOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements by unchecking "Share with App Developers."
Children's Privacy
HueCue does not collect personal information, does not require account creation, and has no age-gated content. As a lighting control utility, it is suitable for users of all ages.
Security
Credentials are stored securely in the macOS Keychain and are only accessible on the device where they were created. App data is written securely to prevent corruption. No sensitive data is transmitted over the internet.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated, the revised version will be posted with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
